Hm, the re-released debut of the Italian rumpus-combo NECRODEATH did miss my taste so far that it was "presented" with five full points. That also meant that I didn't freak out with delight as I put the brand-new offering "Mater Of Evil" into my player and pressed 'play', but what's that? Is this really the same band that had bored me with its dumb Black/Thrash? Another look onto the cover, indeed...
Roughly they have not changed their style, but the means have been refined a lot. Short, but painful grenades like "The Creature" or the exploding "Black Soul" (after a soft acoustic beginning) are walking hand in hand with melodious guitars ("Iconoclast", Void Of Naxir") and (at least partly) doomy songs, which have the melody even in the foreground ("Hate And Scorn", "At The Roots Of Evil").
As disappointed I had been of the debut, so positively surprised I have been by "Mater Of All Evil", a steam-hammer of great quality, which finds itself even in my CD-player time and again, although I usually don't like this style! Check this out!
