Grief Of Emerald - Christian Termination
The third album of Swedish Blackies GRIEF OF EMERALD starts out a little confusing, because the opener "Alas, Spiriti Sancti" is a hyperspeed-grenade in the MARDUK/DARK FUNERAL-style. Superfast and straight into your face. Even the keyboards can only be heard in the background.

But from the second song on they show their true face! They play pretty technical Death Metal with some Black Metal-elements. The weird riffs somehow remind me of MORBID ANGEL. Pretty frilly, but always to the point we get a whole wagonload of good to brilliant ideas. For the normal extreme-freak the whole thing may, though, very well get on the nerves.

Fans of bands like NEGLECTED FIELDS, THEORY IN PRACTICE or ATHEIST (Gabe! - Alex) will hear this with delight as GRIEF OF EMERALD also are great musicians, they master everything from hyperspeed over majestic to jazzy, everything that makes a whole lot of noise. A very good production adds to the whole thing! Only the title "Christian Termination" is ridiculous, if it was called "Jew Termination" the album would be banned in Germany.
