Serberus - Descension
Well, I'll be damned! Heavy Metal still exists in America. When you pop this sophomore CD in your player, you'd think this band was from Sweden, but in fact come from Colorado. Their influences of Swedish Thrash bring to mind very vividly ARCH ENEMY with their melodic twin guitar sound.

However, these guys let loose right from the opening note of "Falling Into The Abyss". The guys are quick with their instruments, but remain tight and go straight for the throat. Not much filler here in the music to make them boring. The drums are rapid fire, but never stray into the hyper-blast beats that many Scandinavians use. The vocals are very gritty, but fit well for the music. The only thing is that at times some of their melodies just sound a little too alike on each song.

This is an album that would do America proud. Just one thing though, while it's good to be influenced by some of your favourites, you are going to have to come up with something new or different so you don't get compared to your influences all the time or lumped in with the rest of the batch of Scandinavian Melodic Death/Thrash-bands.
