A rash, blood-dripping slab of extreme Metal is what the latest effort of DISBELIEF has turned out to be. The monster on the cover is no alien, but a close-up of a praying mantis. Looks really menacing, that insect!
DISBELIEF for sure among the crassest acts that I have witnessed so far. But who expects an inferno now, sorry, I have to disappoint you, DISBELIEF more are slow-paced, brutal and psychedelic-euphoric. The music can be counted among the Death-genre, yet the riffs have a certain VOI VOD/NEUROSIS-touch to them.
But what is most exceptional are the atrocious vocals. They're absolutely extreme and should shock most listeners on their first contact. But once you have heard it more often (I had to, too!), it will be pure bliss. Very emotional music needs just those kinds of vocals, too.
The atmosphere that is created with this album is hardly describable. Oppressive, psychotic, sick are attributes that come to my mind. For sure a highly interesting endeavour and really original! Yet absolutely uninteresting for the average banger! But who likes strange sounds and really appreciates extraordinary music should really dig "Worst Enemy".
