I have to hand it to UDO. While he is up there in age, he has been able to rock the house for over 20 years in the Hard Rock-industry. The concept of his latest release is far from original: "Man And Machine". Didn't we discuss this when FEAR FACTORY was around?
Anyway, the Germans rock hard and heavy on this one and UDO brings back the ACCEPT sound to a degree that we are all so familiar with. "Private Eye" is loaded with killer riffs and catchy hooks that are easy to sing along too and seem like they would have worked well if they were written during the ACCEPT-days. Another memorable track has to go out to "Animal Instinct". Mellow, yet packs quite a punch when you least expect it.
"Dawn Of The Gods" is fuelled with energy that UDO is used to delivering and has killer riffage here. Fellow Germanette, Doro Pesch helps UDO out on "Dancing With An Angel" which is soft and angelic. What's weird is that this is more of a Doro-song than UDO's. It's quite odd to hear him sing a ballad with his distinct voice.
UDO survives yet another year in the Hard Rock/Metal-world with his release. Not bad for a man who has to compete with a lot of bands who are looking to dethrone him from his position in the music community. (Online July 2, 2002)
