Well, it really looks like France is on the right way to furnish new Metal-bands, and all the more that most of them are better than the average. That's another good thing to stimulate our exportations!
This said, APOSTASIA arrive here with an obscure album, coming from nowhere, but which reveals itself as a good quality album. So that you can see what they play, let's say that APOSTASIA is a brutal Symphonic Black Metal-band. Symphonic because there are a lot of basic keyboards, with sonorities that will remind you of some old DIMMU BORGIR-tracks. Brutal because it's 100% in your face, the guitars are fat and heavy, the vocals (whether Death Metal, or Black Metal) are violent, and the drum machine is blocked at the maximal speed.
By the way, for the next album, it would be better to have a well trigged drummer, a bit like SETH's Alsvid, which would make the violent side more important. And even if APOSTASIA haven't invented anything with this "Martyrs Of God", they are able to create some atmospheres and varied tracks. A good beginning then, let's only hope they'll confirm that with their next album… (Online July 23, 2002)
