Flashback Of Anger - Off With My Heart

How does it come that a bunch of new Italian bands sound like RHAPSODY (who are known as RHAPSODY OF FIRE now)? FLASHBACK OF ANGER are also belonging into this group, but they’re playing their music with way less bombast like the guys around Luca Turilli. The songs at their second EP “Off With My Heart” are way more progressive with a very dominant keyboard. Who already owns their first EP “Panta Rei”, may be pleased, because their concept album “Splinters Of Life” is now accomplished with those three new songs.

The songs “Time Can Answer“, “Off With My Heart“ and “Splinters Of Life“ were played all in all in a very balladesque way, but there are enough Power Metal parts available, where you can bang your head properly. This progressive touch encourages indeed the variety, but in my opinion these calm parts are way too long winded. For a track with a length of almost eight minutes it sounds too protracted!

The vocal performance of Alessio Gori is above any doubt. From time to time it might let you think of MANOWAR’s Eric Adams, when he performs “Nessun Dorma”. The production of this demo has been crafted very well, but it doesn’t reach for the premier league yet.
