Messiah's Kiss - Prayer For The Dying
MESSIAH'S KISS? Never heard. Aha, vocals by Mike Tirelli. This guy apparently hasn't had much luck with HOLY MOTHER, because all their albums pretty much flopped. Apart from the debut I think with a reason!

Furthermore MESSIAH'S KISS comprise of German musicians, which had already released four albums under the moniker REPRESSION. Don't know them, but as far as MESSIAH'S KISS is concerned, they really hit my taste. They play traditional Power Metal in tradition of the reference-bands PRIEST, DIO or SAXON. And really good, too!

The songs ignite and the vocals alone at times are truly gigantic. Great hooks, which drill right into your brain and a mega-fat production do their part! Because of the nice fantasy-cover (Toyo?) and the original song-titles like "Dream Evil", "Reign Of Fire" or "Blood Of The Kings" I already had guessed another Italo-retro-band. The album is not original in the least, but still great! Listen to "When The Night Comes Down" (no PRIEST-cover!), the fast "Thunderball" or the equally faster "Blood Of The Kings", that simply is true steel!

If some might accuse them of trying to get another crumb off the True Metal-cake, they deserve a big piece as long as they deliver such quality. If it is mostly for the money I do not know. And if? I don't care, I am thankful for an album like "Prayer For The Dying"! (Online July 29, 2002)
