Kelly Simonz' Blind Faith - Sign Of The Times
Osaka-born Kelly Simonz draws off a kind of one-man-show with "Sign..." Played, sung, produced, written everything by himself. Kudos!

The album is anything but original, because he is more than just worshipping Yngwie Malmsteen. But the good Kelly does that pretty good and packs quite a punch into the heavier songs. The ballads, though sound gruesomely sappy! But who generally likes bands like RISING FORCE or IMPELLITTERI or also Axel Rudi Pell, could really like this album. Musicianship is top-notch, even the vocals sound quite un-Japanese and really good.

But the songwriting does not have any kinds of surprises in stock. (Online August 1, 2002)
