Suidakra - Emprise To Avalon

Come on, remember the old times when SUIDAKRA were still on the small label Last Episode and released the famous album "The Arcanum", an album of melodic Metal full of nice folk touches! Now they are with Century Media, and things haven't changed that much for them… they are still playing the same kind of music, and the sales have certainly not increased that much, though it's obvious that the musical qualities are there.

Sense of the melody, energy, and I would even say 'good mood'. Anyway, it's not "Emprise To Avalon" that will make you feel depressed! But after so many years, you can still feel some kind of naivety in what SUIDAKRA play, a bit, but in a way different style, just like THYRFING. Maybe it's simply because they don't bother much and just play what they like.

Anyway, "Emprise To Avalon" is a good album, still a bit behind "The Arcanum", but which is just like 'Amélie Poulain', the movie: it might not have an influence on your whole life, but at least it enables you to have a good time. And that's already quite good! (Online October 30, 2002)
