OK, who knows DEF LEPPARD, TNT and consorts and misses this music in the here and now? I have your cure, in form of "Against The World" by FRONTLINE.
Melodic Rock with big choruses, great hooks, catchy songs and very good melodies is, what the Franconians deliver with their fifth album and they reanimate the glorious Eighties (at least for this sub-genre). Sure, here and there a little edge wouldn't have hurt, but still "Against The World" never drifts off into the fluff-rock-corner, for that the guitars still are crunchy enough.
FRONTLINE surely do not bring anything new or original into their musix, but they have presented us with competent craftsmanship, which should not disappoint any Melodic Rock-fan, songs like the title-track or "Lightning Eyes" are just too good for that. In Japan people know that already, just like the deceased FAIR WARNING FRONTLINE, too, are a lot better known and more successful in the land of the rising sun than here.
Altogether a very good mix from melody, heavier guitars and flowing song-writing. (Online August 3, 2002)
