When he's not on tour, Derek Roddy (HATE ETERNAL, INTERNECINE…) gets bored. Well, it's true that in Florida, apart from going to the beach or staring at blondes' asses, there's not much to do! So when his friend Kevin proposed him to form a new band together, he immediately agreed. Just a few before finding the last member in the person of Sean Baxter (BROKEN HOPE, EM SINFONIA), and COUNCIL OF THE FALLEN was born.
"Revealing Damnation" arrives now, and contrary to what we could have thought, it's not technical Death Metal. In fact, this is typically American Black/Death Metal, in which you can find here and there some Swedish touches, so that's pretty violent and not so clever… it goes two hundred miles an hour, and the bastard Derek who is behind the drum kit simply kicks some fucking ass. But sadly, a good drummer doesn't make a good band, because though "Revealing Damnation" is quite well done, it's also very common and it's obvious that this album won't change anything in your musical life.
Another CD that will simply soon be forgotten under piles of dust… (Online August 4, 2002)
