Point Blank - By A Thread

New York City’s POINT BLANK sound the way they look on the back cover: quite pissed off! Their songs are (surprise!) a mixture between Thrash Metal and Hardcore with a high aggro factor. The guitars rip through the speakers in a good and razor-sharp fashion, but the drum sound is just too thin.

In parts, their playing isn’t uninteresting either, especially when clean vocals are used (best song: “Can’t Pretend”), but BIOHAZARD, PANTERA or CRO MAGS are just tougher and more convincing sound-wise. Tough guy music like this has to rip more. Sorry, but that’s the way it is. Nowadays, as the euros/dollar are spent more carefully, the music has to convince you sound-wise as well, and that’s what this CD cannot do. So why should an interested reader order this CD in the US if he can get something better for his money? Things would probably look different live…
