Antaeus - De Principii Evangelikum
With their first album "Cut Your Flesh And Worship Satan", the French guys from ANTAEUS had really been able to show that their explosion power and their hate were extremely strong, and that it was one of the best Black Metal existing. Sadly, due to a bad distribution, the whole world has not been contaminated by this orgasmic plague… But now that they're with Osmose, maybe things will change?

And most of all, will ANTAEUS be able to do better than "Cut Your Flesh…" with this nice little "De Principii Evangelikum"? Well, yes and no. Yes in the sense that ANTAEUS haven't lost their grandeur, far from that. The hatred and the violence are still there, and the tracks are 100% in the vein of "Cut Your Flesh…", only the gloomy intros have disappeared. Fucked up Black Metal über alles then!

No in the sense that ANTAEUS have an almost too clean sound, especially concerning the drums, which the amateurs of 'true' Black Metal might not appreciate so much. Anyway, "De Principii Evangelikum" can be put at the same level as "Cut Your Flesh…". Which means in the very top of the Black Metal! (Online August 12, 2002)
