Blood Redemption - s/t

BLOOD REDEMPTION are no newbies in the Hardcore/Metalcore scene when it comes to the musicians involved, even though the band has only been active since 2005. Before that, the BLOOD REDEMPTION guys were involved in bands such as SOLID, SPIRIT OF YOUTH, EMPATHY, or LEGION, gathering a lot of fans from Belgium and abroad. Those fans should also enjoy BLOOD REDEMPTION, the new project of the musicians.

Those who are expecting unimaginative Metalcore that has been done before a hundred times are wrong. Rather, BLOOD REDEMPTION are much more than a blatant copy of efforts by other groups. The five Belgians display skill and a great amount of innovation, mixing Hardcore with Metal and Rock (just listen to “Human Nature”) in a way that makes it hard to tell which influences are more dominant, as all of the styles blend to form one solid unit.

The brutal opener „Choices“ can be described as a straight Thrash Metal killer, even though the ever changing vocals reflect the Hardcore attitude (as do the really committed lyrics). “Life Long Regret” is a rampant burst of hate with lots of power, whereas the next track, the afore-mentioned “Human Nature”, is rather rock-like. “This Love” is out to split your skull, while the closing “Hoax” does not take any prisoners either. The five compositions are rounded off by an absolutely professional production that was handled by a certain AK, who has also worked with bands such as ABORTED, NAPALM DEATH, BORN FROM PAIN, IMMOLATION, LENG T’CHE, or HATESPHERE.

All that makes for a teaser of what BLOOD REDEMPTION may offer in the future, for the potential of this band can already be seen on the self-titled mini album. According to the promo sheet, this should appeal particularly to fans of KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, AS I LAY DYING or CALIBAN. I am okay with that description, so it may serve to help you make your own decision.
