Ensiferum - Victory Songs

Here it is, ENSIFERUM’s eagerly awaited „make it or break it“ album. Would they be able to maintain the quality of the older albums after the departure of Jari Mäenpää? There was a lot of scepticism about it. Well, I can calm down anyone who thought that! This effort is superb and has the best production in the history of this band. As soon as tunes such as “Blood Is The Price Of Glory” or “Deathbringer From The Sky” tear through your speakers, everything will be alright. Even more cunning, obsessed and spiced up with clean choirs, you will get songs of battle until you drop. They even recorded a tune with clean vocals only: ”Wanderer”. Reminds me of BLIND GUARDIAN…

However, the band did stay true to themselves and will not disappoint any long-time fans. They will gain new ones instead, such as myself. Even though some of the choruses are a tad too sugary, I have to admit that ENSIFERUM really caught my attention with their new album. I am not even a huge fan of this style, but I just cannot ignore a monster of a song such as “Raised By The Sword”. The overwhelming power and epic-ness blows you away! Actually, the same can be said about the whole goddamn album..
