Van Halen - 1984
Ah yes all those years ago VAN HALEN where just about the biggest Rock band in the world. Not only did they have a guitar virtuoso in Eddie Van Halen but also one of the world's greatest front men: Diamond David Lee Roth. In 1984 VAN HALEN could do little wrong.

Today VAN HALEN are a shadow of their former glory but if any of today's top Metal/ Hard Rock bands transported themselves back to 1984 they would have very stiff competition indeed as this album is as near perfection on Hard Rock terms as you can find.

This is the album that has "Jump", "Panama" and "Hot For Teacher" on it. Three finer Rock songs have never been written. Diamond Dave's voice soars and bellows. Eddie Van Halen's guitar work is exceptional and highlighted in particular on "Hot For Teacher" and "Top Jimmy".

This was the last album to feature David Lee Roth and maybe this is why a re-union is always being put off: There is no way they will ever make better. (Online September 7, 2002)
