It isn't exaggerated to speak of an extreme-supergroup, because MISERY INDEX consists of Jason Newerthon (ex-DYING FETUS - vocals, lyrics, bass), Mike Harrison (ex-PESSIMIST, CADAVER SYMPOSIUM and SADISTIC TORMENT - guitars, vocals), Sparky Voyles (ex-bass player of DYING FETUS, M.O.D. and FEAR OF GOD) and drummer Kevin Talley (ex-DYING FETUS, M.O.D. and SUFFOCATION).
At least, every fan of brutal music will be excited, when he recognizes the names of the bands. "Overthrow" is the debut-mini of the band MISERY INDEX, which has recently been released in the United States and is finally available in Germany. There is extreme blasting Death Metal. Pretty punishing, not to technical, not to rough. It just fits. This album is recommendable for Old-School-Fans, but also people, who like Black Metal more, could risk an ear here. The direction of the production and also some riffs are very modern!
I am looking forward for a longplayer of MISERY INDEX. The four appetizers make a lot of good temper and also the ingenious TERRORIZER-cover is made-well. I can't befriend with the live tracks, but someone will like it...Great debut of a promising band! (Online October 3, 2002)
