The Finnish around fronter J-P Leppäluoto (I love this name!) are back and with "Downhearted", they deliver us typical Finnish Gothic Metal with a great, dark voice, but not as sweet as some other bands of this genre.
Instead, CHARON sound more dark and, somehow, more dry, hm, just good. The Finns are able to integrate some different notes without leaving their own style and they can hold this at a very high level.
Incurious, if you like it harder or if you like it melancholic/dark/smooth, their compositions are full of a catchy and musically level, you can hear the experience of the guys, especially, when you listen to songs like "Fall" or the distinguish "Sorrowsong".
Every pretentious fan of dark music have to listen to "Downhearted", just a killer album! (Online October 5, 2002)
