It's already published for a while, but I got it only now: the new, self-titled album of the Swedish Death Metal troop KAAMOS. The high guitar working of some Swedish Death bands was ever troubling me, but unfortunately, this doesn't happens with KAAMOS.
The record reminds me of my first contact with POSSESSED's legendary debut "Seven Churches". Brutal, dark and a slightly discolourated sound and then the great music: They play like unleashed beasts from the depths of hell, who want to conquer the world and to enslave the scantiness small group squalor, called humanity, for the real king of the world.
Oh, sorry, my fantasy's too much. What I wanted to say is: here you get real power. Mainly very fast, ever brutal and killing and it's extremely heavy. Breaks are given when it's necessary, so it never leads into chaos. Everything without any blastspeed-parts, it's a total old-school tune. I'm curious about the guys' future in the next years, how they will develop.
Maniacs, who like POSSESSED, INCANTATION but also old GRAVE and DISMEMBER, should not hesitate to buy it, although, the playing time with its 34 minutes is a little bit too short. (Online October 17, 2002)
