Threshold - Critical Mass
This is another U.S. band that has been greatly overlooked. (Hm, maybe because it is a through and through British band? - Alex) This is the bands 5th release (Hm...Sorry that is their sixth release - Alex) and hopefully many people will open their eyes and ears and hear what they are missing.

THRESHOLD spice up their Progressive Metal sound with some intricate guitar interplay, but don't lose the fans interest by being to complicated to be show offs. They know when to get complex and when to just let it flow. The song structuring is mature and superbly played. The band has a way of capturing the musical moments by combining their fast paced playing and calm and melodic moments.

Here is another band that knows how to surprise the listener by being unpredictable with their song structuring. This is original music that knows no boundaries and doesn't follow the likes of DREAM THEATER or anyone else in this genre. They march to their own beat and do it well. Refreshing and enjoyable is this release and hopefully this will be their break through disc from a hard working band that has good taste. (Online October 26, 2002)
