One of the all time best Bay Area records comes from...surprise! It's Belgium with CYCLONE, who let the hammer flow with their second album "Inferior To None". If this record had been recorded by an American combo und would have been released a few years earlier, so not in the year 1991 when Thrash Metal had been dislodged by Death Metal, CYCLONE would gain much praise and glory.
But it was, like it ever was, the mainstream market ignored the album and the band disbanded. The music is mostly in the mid/up-tempo area, it gleams with terrific riffs and many breaks. The album isn't good for easy listening, you have to spend much time with it but then, it won't let you go.
You can listen to seven songs plus intro and one instrumental. As a tip to listen to I would name "Neurotic", which reminds me of holdover material of the "Fabulous Disaster" time of EXODUS. But the rest of the songs have also something with EXODUS in common. Not to forget is "Master Of Puppets" of METALLICA, this record might have some great influence to the second CYCLONE CD.
Imagine, after their third records, METALLICA and EXODUS would have gone together in a studio to record new material, the result could sound like "Inferior To None". (Online October 27, 2002)
