ORB OF TORTURE twist time signatures like the truth. The musicianship falls nothing short of impressive, and with little doubt the band leaves its fans aimless and lobotomized at live performances. The craft of delusion seems the art deco of these tight and technical riffs as the band bursts in a unified frenzy toward a common-yet-invisible finish line.
Problematically, the riffs change with such bounty that listeners assume in error that each track has ended. True to reader-response criticism, the musical compositions obsess over tactical surprise rather than earnest riff crafting.
Still, the speed picking amazes while the bass flurries impress. Vocals add little, but no one will care in this genre. The drum work exhibits perfection and proves far too impressive for simulation. All in all, this release packs more punch into 17 minutes and 20 seconds than most hour long productions. “Stereolith” offers audible bliss in abundance.
