Talamasca - Ascension
After their piece on the third "Unerhört"-sampler of the "Rock Hard"-colleagues it got a little quiet around the Americans of TALAMASCA. They already could satisfy with their debut "Projection" and now I have the follow-up in my hands and it blows me out of my socks. Fans of HELSTAR, SPIRIT WEB, WATCHTOWER or PSYCHOTIC WALTZ will be enthused with these compositions.

They are quite complex, proggy, but also quite heavy. The guitars are really dazzlingly precise and play riffs that do not seem to be of this world! The vocals, too, are brilliant, here rather in the Geoff Tate-tradition or also more aggressive, the guy has it all! As bonus we get a good cover or QUEENSRYCHE's "The Whisper". As this premium class album should be too exhausting for most, TALAMASCA will continue to be on the brink of survival.

A European deal still would be to be wished. All those freaks that like exactly this kind of music for sure are only waiting to buy such a masterpiece. (You can get it at the Century Media-mailorder and at (Online October 28, 2002)
