Dismember - Rehearsal Demo '89

So here we have another demo tape from these Swedish masters of Death Metal. DISMEMBER have established themselves well amongst the scene of modern day Death Metal. Here we have the roots of all DISMEMBER albums to come. Sagging riffs combined with groovy and sometimes mid tempo drum assaults drag you through this roughly recorded tape. The songs on this tape are, simply put, rehearsal songs from the other 2 demos, only the quality suffers a lot on this one.

For the trained ear, this shouldn't give you any difficulties in enjoying the madness the early songs induce. The drums are a little bit too loud here and one can barely hear the guitars and bass. The vocals are also not very loud and the lyrics almost impossible to understand (if there are any). For the guitar work, it's pretty well done, a lot of doomy as well as fast straight out Thrash riffs - this is unquestionably Death Metal. Listen to it and it will amongst many other works show, and not tell you, why society fails. So much for the emotion part.

I give it a 6 because it still is DISMEMBER and has balls, unlike many other pseudo acts today. Certainly worth a listen and/or download.
