THE MANTORS – who doesn’t automatically think of legendary Rape Rockers THE MENTORS? But this is not just a mere cover band, but the legitimate successors of the MENTORS, as with Dr. Heathen Scum the original guitarist is on board and with Mad Dog Marc Duce the successor of the incomparable El Duce also had been with the originals before.
The booklet states: “12 songs of pure hetero power!“ and yes, the title is program. Just a pity that the lyrics have not been printed (I wonder why), because as European it is not that easy to follow the lyrical masterpieces. Anyways, the music is what is universal and it is logical that the songs are the legacy of “You Axed For It“ and “Up The Dose“, anything else would be for the ass anyways. I can’t really compare this to any bands, even though there are a few quotations from other bands, “Die Faggot Die” is loaning the drum parts of TWISTED SISTER’s “We‘re Not Gonna Take It“ and at the end of the remake of the old classic “Four F Club” we get some BLACK SABBATH and SLAYER. But the closing cover versions are the real hit: “Dirty Sluts On Craigslist“ is originally known as “Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap“ by AC/DC. Bon Scott would be delighted with the redone lyrics and any W.A.S.P. fan will know “Kick You In Your Belly“ will as “I Wanna Be Somebody“.
I would be interested in hearing what Gene Simmons thinks about the great cover artwork that takes from his “Destroyer”: album, if he would ever get this CD into his hands. But I don’t care, because this well-produced gemstone just opens my heart, my pants and my ass!!!
