Stormhammer - Cold Desert Moon
Holla, what's happened here? I rather remembered STORMHAMMER as an absolutely mediocre band, but what my ears get here is great stainless steel. A good bit heavier and more powerful is what the guys from southern Germany have to offer here! Great double-bass-laden Power Metal with dedication, melody and power from the first to the last minute!

The biggest weakness of the debut also has been weeded out, a new vocalist has manned the mic, former DRIFTER-fronter Tommy Lion, who is doing a good job here. Not as harsh as on "Reality Turns To Dust" or "Nowhere To Hide", so the two albums of Swiss formation DRIFTER, which had their share of success towards the end of the Eighties.

But STORMHAMMER are a lot straighter and less raw, cannot detect a single filler. Quite the contrary, songs like "A Dragon's Tear" or "Doomsday" are without doubt going for your throat. Fans of German Metal, but also adorers of good US-Metal should be satisfied with this album, a good legacy of true steel.
