Skymning - Stormchoirs
Wow! Already the beginning of the opener "Sweeping the World" blows me away and shows the direction of this debut (!) without mercy: powerful double-bass-attacks, highly melodic guitars and growly vocals are combined to a great mixture from Death Metal and Power Metal, well balancing between heaviness and melody.

But fortunately SKYMNING (Swedish for "Dusk") don't blast through all their songs, no, they always have an eye on variety. Be it intricate harmony-leads embedded in a furious rhythm ("A World In Flames") or softer parts ("The Question"), everything just fits like a square peg in a round hole.

Sure, SKYMNING won't win any prizes for originality with "Stormchoirs", but I for sure prefer the way they celebrate their typically Swedish Melodic Power/Death Metal, so powerful, melodic, but still heavy and with the necessary song-structures, to original bands that sound so weird that the CD starts to fly across the room sooner than you may think...

So listen to the stormchoirs and let them draw you into dusk...
