Virus 7 - Sick In The Head
There seems to be another trend going on: second bands, because VIRUS 7 is the second musical leg of MERCYFUL FATE's Henk Shermann, but fans of that band should really check the CD out before buying it, because "Sick In The Head" has got nothing, absolutely nothing in common with MERCYFUL FATE!

What you can find here is very modern Metal, and who likes my ears, knows that they don't really like that kind of stuff. Very heavy passages with rhythmic guitars and powerful, yet not very melodious vocals meet guitar-solos that hint more at Shermann's idols from the guitar-wizard-school, while the songs come along in all tempos, so there is variety in that department for sure.

Still I cannot really get into this CD, even though songs like the relaxedly aggressive "Your Master Calls" or the powerful/melodic "Last Chance" are even to my liking.

So, just as always with bands of that style, fans of the genre should better go out and make up their own mind about it.
