Marduk - World Funeral
We have to admit it, but the latest MARDUK album, "La Grande Danse Macabre", was definitely not so well done. It was even close to being a bad one, and that's why many people with bad intentions, just like me, were waiting for "World Funeral" and expecting to simply slash it. Well, I won't have to do that, because MARDUK have done a really good job here and release then a very high quality album, a bit like "Nightwing"', in which you can find a big half of mid-tempo, or even slow songs, and the other ones being very fast and full speed ahead.

In addition to that, the sound is huge, and the guy replacing Fredrik behind the drums is really playing like a madman, which means we can only but be happy… Only slight reproach, the voice of Legion, that sounds a bit different and a bit under his best performances. But anyway, MARDUK have come back to their best level, and have done with "World Funeral" an album of which they won't have to be ashamed, far from that! (Online June 8, 2003)
