MERCILESS is one of those old bands who were part of the top of the underground Thrash Metal movement in the second half of the 80's, in a style mostly inspired by the cult bands that are SLAYER, KREATOR and so on. They have then became a cult band along the years, especially when the big trend of retro thrash hit us in 1997-1998… which might also have pushed them to re-create the band in 1999, and now leads us towards this eponymous album, that finally gets released though it was recorded almost one year ago!
"Merciless" is clearly an album of old school Thrash Metal, with also some slight touches of more extreme Metal, and that will without doubt please the ancient ones, those who still wear their old jackets with ASSASSIN patches and big basketball shoes. But it must also be said that this album doesn't bring anything new to the style, and all in all isn't such a 'must-have' album, unless for the ones whose Thrash Metal CD's collection is the most important thing ever!
