"Demon Dealer", the third album of the Swedes 2TON PREDATOR has something going. I do only know the two previous albums from their titles, so I cannot say, if the band managed to get better, but the latest output has something. Neo-Thrash of the PANTERA brand during "Cowboys From Hell" times and THE HAUNTED is what the men have out onto their banner.
There are enough travelling vagabonds of this species, but 2TON PREDATOR definitely are among the spearhead of this direction. Seriously, it's been quite some time since I have heard such catchy riff attacks combined with good shout choruses. The four folks also don't let their musical steam roller rumble along in first gear, but also at times rev it up into fourth gear.
As example in the hefty opener "Slowly Slaughtered" or partly also the following "Pipeyard Killing" the cows fly quite nicely. In the course the band runs a bit out of ideas, meaning that the songs sound a bit more like each other, but after all the CD makes sense for fans of the above mentioned bands. And as with most Neo Thrashers with time the monotonous shout vocals get on my nerves. (Online August 16, 2003)
