With their third album VOIVOD managed to channel the chaos of former days into more controlled paths, but without completely neglecting the old sound. A lot fitter on their instruments and matured a lot in terms of song writing the guys offered us a Thrash Metal grenade in "Killing Technology" that has to be beheld. A big plus is the very good production by Harris Johns, which is light years ahead of the sound of the previous albums.
And then the songs. Still anything but easily digestible several listens unfold little raw diamonds that despite all their progressiveness had big effect. Songs like the swiftly lumbered down "Tornado" with its equally simple and effective chorus, the great "Forgotten In Space", which would have honoured CELTIC FROST, the straight "Ravenous Medicine", which VOIVOD even did a video clip for, or "Cockroaches", shining with its completely whacked out riffs you should know as a Thrasher to be a able to talk. And the other songs do not drop off compared to the already mentioned ones.
You only need time and spirit to get in union with the music. Who intensively attends to the album will be rewarded with many little details. But who loves straight thrashing should circle this CD widely. (Online July 24, 2003)
