Withered Earth - Of Which They Bleed
This is no frills Death Metal that will make bands like DEICIDE sound like Britney Spears. You won't be hearing this band on the radio anytime soon. Adam sounds like he gargled with some kitchen detergent before take hold of the mic. The drums pulsate through the speakers and into your heart while the guitars just show no mercy. The songs here are quick which gives the band no time to play around. These songs are sonic fast and the band makes no apology for what they do to you. They get in and get out and move on. Very minimal guitar doodling is exercised here. WITHERED EARTH is raw and abrasive which is the route that they choose. If you plan on picking this up be forewarned that no melodies exist here.

Call me crazy, but I like my music no matter what genre it is to have some melody and this doesn't quite do it for me. Fans who like their Death Metal to be the real deal can go pick this up. I don't think that they have what it takes to be as memorable as say ZYKLON, but if you are in dire need of something rough and rugged, then you can grab this. (Online October 11, 2003)
