Paragon - The Dark Legacy
Hamburg's steel smithy PARAGON is coming back with its sixth slayer "The Dark Legacy". Who knows the band can automatically get this one. Not much has changed compared to their last album "Law Of The Blade". The band still plays powerful Heavy Metal of the better kind. Only the choirs have been tuned down a bit to "Steelbound" niveau.

Speaking of "Steelbound": The new albums lacks an immediate hit as the grandiose "Thunderstorm", but apart from that the again Piet Sielck produced album lashes out at your ears without mercy. Comparable with, for example, old W.A.S.P., PARAGON pull through their music without even stumbling on the chosen path. Who needs bands, which always have to prove themselves anew, how variable and up to date they are? Why are bands like STATUS QUO, AC/DC or MOTÖRHEAD allgemein so successful and respected?

On a smaller scale this will remain the same also for PARAGON and it is good like that. The big buyer class will still ignore the band, but a few thousand maniacs, whose eyes will light up upon hearing the band name and automatically reach for the wallet are not the worst thing you can have, right? And who still is mourning the 80s and the heyday of JUDAS PRIEST, ACCEPT, SAXON or RUNNING WILD will get the best from the new PARAGON CD.

No matter if the stomping "The Afterlife", the mid tempo hymn "Breaking Glass" or the fast skull slitter "Back From Hell", PARAGON give damn lot of value for money! The limited DigiPak comes over with a bonus track. Get it!!! (Online September 27, 2003)
