So let's take the info-flyer into the hand: Ah yes, OBSCURITY come from Sweden and had been founded back in 1985, inspired by bands like VENOM, SLAYER, BATHORY and POSSESSED. Oh, here's something interesting: They are praised as a "true Scandinavian Black/Thrash-legend", along with MAYHEM, GROTESQUE and MORBID...
OK, almost impressed I put the CD in my player and WHAM! A Black/Thrash-inferno with rough, unmelodic vocals, fast drums and despite re-mastering a very rough production. That hit home!
You hear everywhere that the songs had been created in the years 1985 and 1986, sounding quite out-fashioned and bumpy. Only two tracks break through the strict limitations of Black/Thrash: "Mortal Remains" (slower, melodic guitars and better vocals) and "Fallen Arches" (quite slow and melodic and with a real structure to the song), the rest of the twelve songs sounds to uniform, to dull for my taste.
So who likes the above-mentioned bands, should check out OBSCURITY, all others, who search for melodies and more variety should better let it be...
