SKINLESS are the purest example of the US underground Death Metal band: more than ten years of existence, an unbelievable number of tours opening for well-known bands, such as SIX FEET UNDER, MORTICIAN or HATEBREED, but only three albums in their pockets, and all in all, no celebrity at all.
Maybe this is logical when you're in fact a Punk Rocker always on the road? Anyway, whatever that may be, "From Sacrifice To Survival" is an album of straight and brutal Death/Grindcore, full of blast beats, and gifted with a very punchy and rocky voice, half-way between Death Metal and Hardcore. To give you an idea, they sound like some CANNIBAL CORPSE that would have listened to too much BLOOD FOR BLOOD.
Ok, it's not very original and we've all already heard bands like that before, but the whole thing is still quite well done… and the sound is quite powerful, the packaging is nice, and there's a bonus as a video of the band on the road, filmed a la Jackass. You can then give SKINLESS a try. (Online October 13, 2003)
