Japanische Kampfhörspiele - Fertigmensch

A very short, sweet and most of all unusual album is what we have here from these German masters of unique Grindcore styled Metal. JAPANISCHE KAMPFHÖRSPIELE use influences ranging from the basic Death, Grind and Hardcore styles and integrate them with interesting noise and keyboard pieces making this album very innovative despite its short running time.

Instrumentally this album is very average and the elements it contains are very standard but what may make this appealing to some is the variety of its musical content. The Death and Grind style riffs are very normal and do not stand out and the musicianship hardly shows any technical wizardry but the blend of the various genres and forms of extreme Metal do make this an interesting listen.

Vocally the band appears to battle within itself as the growls and screams are both impressive enough so as not to let anyone down. The drum and sample work however are possibly the most interesting aspects of the music as the strange noises contrast heavily with the Metal sections to create an almost futuristic soundscape.

Overall this album is original and it does Grind hard but really there is a lack of depth to the album both musically and conceptually that it doesn't leave you wanting to play it again and again and therefore becomes quite plebain after a short while. Would probably be great for some, awful for others but for me its just above average... (Online November 6, 2003)
