After the last album "Coma Nation" had been a true hammer, we now get the next stroke in form of "Apostles Of Defiance". Unfortunately it never reaches the level of the previous killer. For one this is because of the vocals, which are mixed too low and the few growls, which seem a bit misplaced.
The opener "Screams From Within" already sounds too predictable and the clinical sound robs it of all its power. The vocals were great on the predecessor, but here they start to get on my nerves. Dave Mustaine fans will be happy, because he sounds exactly like him. The choruses are not really gripping and sound lacking.
Apart from that one can say that it is a technically flawless Power Metal album, which unfortunately only has two outstanding songs in "The Will To Remain" and "Apathy For A Dying World". A bit too little, if you ask me. (Online December 27, 2003)
