Godiva - s/t
Lady GODIVA, this has been that girl with the axe, for whom LIZZY BORDEN made a song ("Godiva" from the "Love You To Pieces" album) as well as FLOTSAM & JETSAM ("She Took An Axe" from "Doomsday For The Deceiver"). Must be pretty in in the American literature, this woman. But she seems also to be known up to the Swiss mountains, otherwise this Swiss band hadn't choose her name.

GODIVA present us stereotyped 80s Metal. Truly a pleasure for all fans of decent Heavy Metal somewhere between PARAGON, ACCEPT and JUDAS PRIEST! Of course, these guys don't reinvent Metal and much of it sounds "deliberately" all known. Doesn't matter as this record makes a lot of fun. Thorough headbanger stuff is delivered. Cool licks and thick riff attacks mill themselves into your ear and won't ever go. To add is Anthony De Angelis, who is really a first-class singer and he marks their sound significantly.

That nothing could go wrong is provided by Tom Naumann and Achim Köhler (SINNER, PRIMAL FEAR...) with their decent fat production. That's the right music for partying in the evening and for a decent headbanging. Bang on! (Online January 10, 2004)
