It’s becoming some kind of a trend! Nowadays, the best US-Death Metal-albums are released by Scandinavian bands. We had already had BLOODBATH, AEON and THRONAEON from Sweden, and now BLOOD RED THRONE from Norway are coming to kick our ass. And they have stars in the band, with Tchort (ex-EMPEROR and SATYRICON) and Död (session for SATYRICON). That gives a very good quality “Monument Of Death”, with a huge sound (thanks to the Berno Studios) and a high technical level.
The only reproach we can make is that they simply copy and paste whatever’s possible: then, “Portrait Of A Killer”, “The Children Shall Endure…” and in fact 80% of the album sound like DEICIDE; “Ravenous War Machine” is inspired by CANNIBAL CORPSE; and “Malignant Nothingness” by DEATH. And there are some touches of MALEVOLENT CREATION, MORBID ANGEL and so on, too. So you know what to expect, there shall be no surprise: those guys are just having fun, and that’s already better than nothing. It’s also worth mentioning that the artwork is very funny (yom yom)!
