Mike Wead is one of my favourite guitarists ever since his blessed HEXENHAUS-days! Due to his participation with KING DIAMOND he also became known to a bigger audience and he always has had very interesting projects like the great ABSTRACT ALGEBRA (which has more been been Leif Edling's (CANDLEMASS) - Alex) or MEMENTO MORI and now FIFTH REASON (which is more Simon Johansson's (MEMORY GARDEN)... - Alex).
With those he at first had released an album titled "Psychotic"; which hasn't been anything special. The latest offering of the Swedes is roundabout the same, again with Kristian Andrén (formerly - Alex) of TAD MOROSE on the vocals. Because some songs just won't work, some parts just sound too hectic and not thought through enough. The best songs somehow remind me of HEXENHAUS' "Deja Voodoo", yet not really reaching the level of this godly album. But at least some riffs are reminiscent of HEXENHAUS.
Musically FIFTH REASON are not that far away from them, but quality-wise they are miles away. A CD that features Mike Wead on guitars almost automatically has a high guitar-technical level, something that you cannot say about the song-writing... A big disappointment!
