Dark Tranquillity - The Gallery
In the beginning there was an ad in a magazine, showing the cover of "The Gallery". This was my first contact with this band. At a visit in a record-shop I found just that cover whilst browsing through the shelves and spontaneously decided to give such a masterpiece a chance and listened to it. Now that has been my first contact with Death Metal.

After not having had any expectations at all, I was steam-rolled. I had not expected such a powerful blast of purest steel. The opener "Punish My Heaven" rolled over me like a tank in full swing. High speed, incredible power, harsh vocals, but those intricate, highly melodious guitar-leads that just drill their way right into your brain. It was an experience that you do not make often musically, an experience that has left its mark...

"The Gallery" is among the finest ever to come from the city of Göteborg and for me personally stands above "The Jester Race" and "Slaughter Of The Soul", maybe because it had been my first contact with this style, this genre, I don't know.

But it is virtually impossible not to get captured by tracks like "Punish My Heaven", "The Gallery", "The One Brooding Warning" or the grandiose/bombastic duo "Mine Is The Grandeur..."/"...Of Melancholy Burning".

A true classic!
