Rammstein - Mutter
One of the most controversial German bands is back: RAMMSTEIN. There had been tons of discussions in the past and I'll leave those just there for now.

To expect a radical change in their musical direction would be almost impudent, their success-formula has rather been refined and enlarged. The only thing that will cause some shaking heads (no, not headbanging) again are the lyrics, but you cannot generalise here, because there are some really good lyrics, too, like "Links 2 3 4", which is for all those blind militarists or "Adios". On the other side, however, we have stuff like "Zwitter" ("Hermaphrodite"), "Rein Raus" ("In - Out") or "Mutter" ("Mother"), which many won't view as humoristic as it might have been intended to be.

Musically they are working with sometimes very symphonic and orchestral sounds, which have been conducted by Babelsberg's film-orchestra, especially "Mein Herz brennt" ("My Heart Burns") really benefits from them, and it seems that RAMMSTEIN have put a bigger emphasis on melodies this time around, the chorus of "Sonne" ("Sun") or the brilliant, almost balladesque "Nebel" ("Fog") are evidence for that. "Ich will" ("I Want") is almost perfect for live-gigs, I already see the band-crowd-games on...

All controversies and again partly, hm, dubious lyrics aside (without which there would have been half a point more), musically RAMMSTEIN surely pass the test, there isn't anything better in their style...
