Frown - Features And Causes Of The Frozen Origin
FROWN seem to be quite famous in their home-country of Slovakia, because one of their songs almost had been chosen for the future national-anthem, but failed to pass the test of the conservative majority in parliament. If that is the truth or not, who am I to find out, but it's a nice story, isn't it? Well, let's take a look at the music and there is one thing that shot through my mind immediately - TYPE O NEGATIVE!

FROWN have decided to take up, what the New Yorker's have lost in their current sound, they are not even near to such really cool albums like "Slow, Deep & Hard" or "Bloody Kisses" any more. But what FROWN are offering us here could be well described as a bastard of these two albums, even the cover is in the typical black/green and instrumentally and soundwise they really are impressive.

The only point of criticism is that they have none of those catchy choruses, like "Jesus Christ Looks Like Me..." (Christian Woman) or "I know You're Fucking Someone Else..." (song-title is too long for me!) etc. You cannot criticise their musicianship, but they really have to learn writing hooklines first! Maybe they do not even WANT to! Still a good album, even though the fact that many will disregard them as clone-band will hurt!
