Not being at all impressed with GARDENIAN's current direction, I still think their first effort "Two Feet Stand" is one of the more infectious Melodic Death-albums I own. This is just great listening all the way through, with melodies that stick in your head for weeks!
The opening title track is, rhythmically, very AT THE GATES-y, with its fast tempo that switches to half-time and back again. It's much more mellifluous and, dare I say, "happy" sounding in the melody-department though. Both instrumentals are quite gay, but not GAY-gay, the other kind of gay, though some people might call them the homo-form of gay, and not without good reason, because "The Silent Fall" is a bit too gay, in BOTH ways, for my tastes. OK, enough...
Standouts are the title-track, "Flipside Of Reality", instrumental "Netherworld" (yeah, I like some slightly ga...uhhh I mean "happy"-sounding stuff, too), "Freedom", and especially "Mindless Domination", which is as memorable as it gets. I recommend this album only to the avid Melodic Death-ers of the globe. If you need to be saturated in darkness, search elsewhere. If you like stuff that's brutal, yet equally hummable, this has your name on it...
