A little older, but far too important to be forsaken is the first longplayer by Illinois-based ION VEIN. After a quite unnecessary intro the band unleashes best US Metal upon the listener.
Very melodic, with a good, mid-pitched singer, who really has class. Heavy passages intertwine with calmer, acoustic parts, there is a slight Prog-touch evident throughout the album, but it never disrupts the flow. The songs all convince through good melody-lines and catchy choruses.
Who likes FATES WARNING in their "Parallels"-era, should also get along with ION VEIN very well. Because the style of "Beyond Tomorrow" could well be compared to Jim Matheos & co. in this time. OK, the playing time of 35 minutes is not really luxurious, but hey, there are no fillers for that. And you just have to support killer-bands like ION VEIN.
Great album, which won't collect dust in your CD-shelf. You can get this gem from Hellion Records and Rising Sun! To contact the masters themselves you can get in touch with them at: ION VEIN, P.O. BOX 7911, Hoffman Estates, Illinois 60195, USA.
