SERAPH from the Bavarian Freilassing have released their debut with "Strong Impressions", which really is worth a look (or rather listen).
Divided into nine tracks, they offer a competent mixture of Death Metal with elements from Thrash and Power Metal. The first difference from the other legions of bands becomes evident once the vocals set in, because with Michael Kainberger and Christian Kalns they have two vocalists tormenting their vocal chords, one with a very rough voice and partly high Death Metal-vocals, while the other adds his deeeep Death-growls, which creates a quite interesting effect. In terms of speed, SERAPH mostly can be found between doomy rhythms and Double-Bass-supported mid-tempo, emphasizing heavy, yet melodic guitars.
Try out: "Crusades" (slow track with thundering mid-paced Double-Bass, fat guitars and accentuating keyboards in the chorus), the quick opener "Tragedy" and my highlight "Useless", which starts softly with keyboards, accompanied by Double Bass and heavy guitars before turning into a mid-heavy Melodic Death-cracker with varied vocals!
The production is very good, too, with a clear sound and great raw guitars. Who wants to listen to (and support) another hopeful newcomer, should not pass by SERAPH!
