Black Steel - Destructor
BLACK STEEL are from the country of kangaroos and Tasmanian devils and is a band you will surely hear more about soon if there's a god of Metal! This combo simply is awesome. The CD I have here was already recorded in July 2001 so it took quite a long time to come to me to review it.

Doesn't matter, you can always listen to timeless music. And the music BLACK STEEL plays IS timeless. Let's call it Power Metal somewhere between PRIEST and JAG PANZER. With great singing which sometimes reminds me of Rob Halford and supreme songwriting, the songs all have great refrains, are technically excellent and have style without any end. Even the production is almost perfect!

You can bang your head to the sound of up-tempo songs like "Destructor" or "Too Wild To Tame". I would never have expected such an epic bomb as "Hell's Gate", these divine riffs, simply great. With "Hail Of Fire" and "Bounded By Steel" some more food for the ears is supplied, quite in the mid-tempo style but convincing. Here singer Matt Williams again shows his unbelievable voice while we may enjoy absolutely wonderful riffs by Page and Di Stefano. "Forever (The Sands Of Time)" is the ideal closer and easily catches up with the high standard. What I also consider outstanding is a track that begins like a ballad - "Vengeance Of The Damned", a model of Metal that gives you the creeps!

As you can see I can't stop cherishing anymore and urge you to buy this CD! I will contact this band, I MUST interview them! (Online September 26, 2002)
