Swarm, The - Bruise The Flesh To Black
I stumbled upon this band by chance one day when browsing the METAL IRELAND forum and contacted the band regarding demos. A few days later and this is what arrived at my door...

The first problem I had with this was the weak production (I was listening to NASUM beforehand). Quite clear and reasonable for a demo but its far too quiet for these ears (especially after the pounding they received beforehand).

Ok bitching out of the way on to the review... A fairly standard Death Metal band is what we have here. Some interesting ideas on riffs and structure, plenty of use of switching speakers etc... A great growler is to be found here and that is almost enough to make me ignore the appalling singing vocals, but not quite. They really are awful.

Interesting ideas but some more aggressive riffs needed. Oh and lose the clean vocals!

Potential here is like a flower in bud, given the right conditions it will bloom. (Online November 21, 2002)
